Agneto

C'e sempre un buon motivo per andare in nell'alta Val Borbera. Ci sono stato moltissime volte, non le saprei contare, ma ogni volta c'e' un senso di nuovo, mai noia, mai questo l'ho gia' visto. Da San Sebastiano, la via piu' facile e' salire a Dernice, facile facile, dolce dolce, ideale come "colazione" e poi proseguire sul fondovalle .. ecco se non ci fosse il vento forte in faccia sarebbe anche meglio, ma non si puo' avere tutto .... si passano tutti i paesi, si rimane sulla strada principale fino al bivio per capanne di Carrega e ci si dirige verso quest'ultimo. La strada scende, attraversa un ponte e poi risale, ma ben presto si accomoda sul fondovalle. Qui e' fantastico, la strada scorre tra i boschi, accostata alla montagna, quasi si fosse alle porte di un mondo diverso, con un diverso concetto del tempo. La valle e' stretta e verde verde, ci sono un sacco di posti deliziosi verso cui dirigersi. Oggi Agneto e poi San Fermo. Dopo qualche Km si svolta a destra, si sale tranquillamente fino ad Agneto, un grosso borgo (famoso per il pane e salame, ma questa e' una lunga storia) di queste parti. Appena prima della chiesa c'e' una stradina che sale sulla destra (se serve acqua, proseguite sulla strada principale ancora circa 150m). Lasciata la strada principale si sale decisamente, strada strettissima, tornanti, non capisco neanche bene perche' sia stata asfaltata. Panorami si aprono e si chiudono, ecco Daglio, ecco Campassi, l'Antola e' dietro le nuvole.



Ad una certo punto la strada e sterrata, ma rugginella ce la fa (anche se con qualche difficolta quando ci sono troppi sassi).



Ogni tanto mi fermo, dove il bosco di querce diventa meno fitto, a vedere il panorama giu' sotto. In questo tratto non ci sono pendenze impegnative, la strada si impenna solo verso il punto in cui si scollina, breve discesa e ci si ricongiunge con la la strada che sale verso San Fermo.



Il vento qui e' fortissimo, difficile stare in bici.



Mangio qualcosa e poi via verso casa, scendendo da Dova e poi Cabella ed indietro. Anche questa discesa mi piace un sacco, ci incontro anche un cinghiale, fermo sul ciglio della strada, che non mi sente. Gli arrivo vicinissimo, ma quando sono a qualche metro freno cosi' che si accorga di me. Lui scatta nel bosco in una nuvola di polvere. Mi piacciono i cinghiali (in ogni senso ..ehehehe).

Il percorso

There's always a good reason to go in the upper Val Borbera. I've been there so many times I cannot count them, but still every time I feel like there' something different. From San Sebastiano, the easiest way is to go to Dernice, nice and easy, easy and nice, it's a good "breakfast" climb, then you go down to Val Borbera, then up to valley, following the main road until you get to the deviation towards Capanne di Carrega. Today a strong headwind makes it more difficult, but .... . After the deviation, a short downhill, bridge, then up, but after 200m the road is almost flat, on the bottom of a V-groove valley, shadow, a sense of wilderness, like these were the gates of a separate world, with a different concepts of time. There are lot a nice places here where you may want to go, today, I'm off to Agneto and then San Fermo pass. After a few km there is the deviation to Agneto, road goes suddenly up, but don't get scared, it's quite easy 'till Agneto, a beautiful village that in my mind is always associated with "bread and salame" (too long to explain). Just before the church, there is a narrow road on the right (if you need water, follow the main road for another 150m or so, water on the right). OK, here the road is steep, narrow and dirty, landscape is fascinating, Daglio, Campassi there, the mountains, mount Antola obscured by clouds today (see picture above). Then the road is no longer paved, but Rugginella can manage it (well ... almost, when it's not too rocky). Sometimes I stop where the oaks are less impenetrable, to have a look at the valley below. (see picture above) After the summit, the road is unpaved for another short section and connects to the paved one just before the pass. (see picture above) Today it is so windy that makes cycling even dangerous, time to stop, eat something and go back home, through Dova and Cabella. In the downhill I met a boar. he doesn't see or smell me, so I can get close when I suddenly brake so that h knows I'm here. As soon as he understands what's going on, he disappears in a cloud of dust. I like boars (in every meaning of the word :))
